When I was a teenager, my stepmom spent days making a variety of candy and cookies for Christmas every year. These were always my favorite among all the goodies she made, so she gave me her recipe. It's so easy to make, and it's a standard offering at Christmastime in my home now. And they always go fast. Other varieties of nuts work well, too. So for variation you can use almonds, pecans, hazelnuts/filberts or macadamia nuts.
