mom's chocolate fudge frosting

This was the icing that my Mom would always put on her Mayonnaise Cake. Recipe calls for you to boil it for 1 minute for icing, but sometimes we got a treat and Mom would make us a plate of fudge by letting it boil for 4 extra minutes. A real treat!

Ingredients For mom's chocolate fudge frosting

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make mom's chocolate fudge frosting

  • 1
    Mix ingredients well and bring to a rolling boil.
  • 2
    Boil 1 minute and remove from heat. (If making fudge, boil for 5 minutes)

    Add vanilla.

    Beat until thick enough to spread.
