Ingredients For grandma's nut brittle

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    light corn syrup
  • 2 c
    unsalted nuts - any kind you prefer
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter - use real butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda

How To Make grandma's nut brittle

    Butter a large platter or clean counter top. NOTE: Be careful to not let brittle burn during cooking process.

    Slowly cook sugar, corn syrup, and water in heavy sauce pan- stirring until sugar dissolves.

    Cook to soft crack stage; add nuts and salt. Proceed to cook until hard crack stage- stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat, add butter and baking soda- stir to blend - mixture will bubble.
  • 5
    Pour onto buttered platter-smooth out into thin layer. Cool and break into pieces.
