My Grandmother used to make these and gave me the recipe. They're delicious.

Ingredients For buckeye balls

2 c creamy peanut butter

1/2 c salted butter

1 t. vanilla

16 oz powdered sugar

6 oz chocolate chips

2 t. vegetable shortening
How To Make buckeye balls

1Line a baking sheet w/waxed paper.Mix peanut butter,butter,vanilla and sugar w/hands to form a smooth dough.Will be very stiff.Shape dough into balls using about 2 t. for each.Place on wax paper and chill. In top of a double boiler over simmering not boiling water,melt choc and shortening together.When smooth pour into small bowl or cup.Remove peanut butter balls from frig insert a wooden pick into balls and dip into melted choc so that 3/4 of ball is coated.Return to paper,choc side down and remove pick.Repeat with all balls.Chill 30 mins or longer till choc is firm not sticky.To store place in plastic containers w/wax paper between layers to keep separated.
