Posting this in response to a request. I have had this recipe for years and it is a favorite. The title comes from the fact that someone always makes these for funeral lunches. Here in the Midwest it's a tradition to take food to the family's home when someone passes away and also to the church for the funeral lunch.

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla and almond extracts and beat. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add to egg mixture. Spread batter on a greased and floured 11x17 pan, saving about 1 cup batter to spread on top. Spread cherry pie filling over the batter in the pan. Spoon remaining batter over cherries. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until it springs back when lightly touched. When cool, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze if desired.
