war cake

I got this recipe out of a newspaper a very long time ago. It is a spicy type of cake that does not require any eggs. My assumption is during the war, eggs may have been rationed and a cook came up with this recipe to eliminate the use of eggs. I have not made this cake in a number of years but after viewing the recipe again, I think I will be making it again shortly.
