This is my momma's recipe and it is so good. The apples do justice to make this a wonderful fall cake. With the fresh crop of apples coming soon, this will be a cake you will definitely want to make for a Sunday Dinner. A nice big dollop of cool whip makes it even that much better.

1/4 cbutter, melted

2 lgapples, peeled, cored and sliced

1/3 cbrown sugar

1/2 cbutter, melted

1/2 cmolasses

1/2 csugar

1egg

2 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspginger

1/4 tspnutmeg

1/2 tspcloves

1/2 tspsalt

3/4 chot tea
How To Make upside down apple gingerbread cake

1Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9x9 inch square baking pan.

2Arrange sliced apples over melted butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and set aside.

3For gingerbread: combine butter, molasses, sugar & eggs in mixing bowl; mix well. Combine dry ingredients to wet ingredients alternately with hot tea. Mix well, pour over apples. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Cool 3-5 minutes. Invert onto a plate. Serve warm with cool whip.
