Another way you can do this, instead of using the cool whip, cream cheese and sugar, make caramel using sweetened condensed milk, then top with ganache.

Ingredients For sweet & salty mud bars
- BOTTOM LAYER

2 1/2 ccrushed pretzels

1/3 cbrown sugar
-
2 stickbutter, unsalted & melted
- MIDDLE LAYER

1cool whip
-
1 pkgcream cheese
-
1/2 csugar
-
2 tsppure vanilla extract
- GANACHE
-
3/4 cheavy whipping cream
-
3/4 cmilk chocolate chips
How To Make sweet & salty mud bars

1Put your pretzels and brown sugar through food processor until almost fine crumbs. Melt 2 sticks of butter, dump pretzels in a 13x9 pan and pour butter over it and press into pan. Bake for 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

2Make middle layer, mix softened cream cheese, sugar and cool whip until smooth and creamy.

3Spread this layer over the cooled pretzel bottom. Place in the fridge until you are ready to put the ganache on it.

4Make ganache by combining heavy whipping cream & chocolate chips in a bowl over simmering water until melted.

5stir constantly to cool faster and then pour over the top of the dessert to finish it off.
