Blue Ribbon Recipe

This summertime berry dump cake only takes a few minutes to prepare. The result is an easy and delicious summertime dessert. It's so good though, you'll enjoy it year-round. And since it uses frozen berries, you can. Cake mix, with a can of lemon lime soda poured on top, adds sweetness to the dessert, and the cake mix creates a nice topping for the dump cake. The filling is a little thinner than other dump cakes we've tried, but it was tasty with a little whipped cream on top. A scoop of vanilla ice cream would be lovely too. We used a 3 pound bag of berries and suggest not using anything smaller than a 2 pound bag.

Ingredients For summertime berry dump cake

  • 1 pkg
    frozen berry mix (2 - 3 lb bag)
  • 1 box
    white or yellow cake mix
  • 1 can
    Sprite or other clear soda (12 oz)
  • Cool Whip or whipped cream, optional

How To Make summertime berry dump cake

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degreees F.

  • Spray 9X13 cake pan with non-stick spray.

  • Add frozen berries to the baking dish.

    Spread frozen fruit evenly in the bottom of pan.
  • Sprinkle cake mix and pour the can of Sprite over the cake mix; do not mix.

    Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over fruit. Pour a can of Sprite evenly over the cake mix. DO NOT MIX.
  • Bake the dump cake.

    Bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes until a light golden brown.
  • Serve with whipped cream.

    Allow to cool. Serve with Cool Whip or whipped cream (optional).
