This came from a cake mix box and turned out so well that it has become part of our strawberry season regulars.

Ingredients For strawberries and sour cream cake

  • 1 pkg
    white cake mix (original called for sour cream white )
  • 1 c
    strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 can
    chocolate, ready to spread frosting

How To Make strawberries and sour cream cake

    Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 9x12 cake pan. Prepare cake mix as directed using egg whites and decrease water to 1 cup. Pour into pan.

    Fold berries into sour cream and spoon over batter. Bake as directed on package. Cool 15 minutes. Prepare glaze.

    Heat 1/2 cup of frosting over medium heat, stirring constantly until desired consistency. Drizzle over cake. Serve warm or cool. Refrigerate any leftover.

    1 cup frozen unsweetened berries, sliced and thawed can be used.
