this is a great fall recipe :) I tried the recipe out for the first time last year. It was great. My hubby though wouldn't even try it but then he doesn't like gingerbread type recipes.

Ingredients For spiced pudding cake

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    molasses
  • 2 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2/3 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/4 c
    butter, cubed
  • whipped cream and ground cinnamon for a garnish but its optional

How To Make spiced pudding cake

    In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. add egg; beat well. Beat in molasses. Combine the flour, baking soda, spices and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with water, beating well after each addition.

    Transfer to an ungreased 13x9 baking pan; sprinkle with brown sugar. In a microwave, heat water and butter until butter is melted; carefully pour mixture over batter.

    Bake at 350* for 35 to 40 minutes or till a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Serve warm. Garnish with whipped cream and cinnamon if desired.
