During, and directly after high school, I worked in a grocery store that had an awesome bakery/deli department. When I quit working there, to leave for Army Basic Training, I asked Margie (the manager of the bakery)for the recipe because I loved it so much, and she was kind enough to give it to me.

Ingredients For sour cream coffee cake

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    butter (melted)
  • 8 oz
    sour cream
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 c
    pecans, in pieces

How To Make sour cream coffee cake

  • 1
    Combine sugar, melted butter, and eggs. Mix well.
  • 2
    Add sour cream, vanilla, flour, and baking powder. Hand mix, not beaten.

    Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans, pouring half of it on the batter.

    Add remaining batter and top with remaining sugar mixture.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
