After I took this cake to work the first time I was always the one elected to bring birthday cake for parties. I use Glossy Cocoa Frosting on it (I will post that recipe next).

Ingredients For sheath cocoa cake

  • 2 c
    sifted flour
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • dash
    salt
  • 1 c
    butter or margerine
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    instant coffee
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk

How To Make sheath cocoa cake

    Mix flour, cocoa, sugar, soda, cinnamon and salt together in large mixing bowl.

    Bring water and butter to a boil. Add instant coffee and vanilla to water.

    Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix well.

    Add eggs and buttermilk and mix well.
  • 5
    Bake in greased sheet cake pan at 350º for 20-25 minutes. Done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

    Frost in pan with Glossy Cocoa Icing (posting next).
