Far and away, my favorite cookies. EVER. So fun and easy to make. They were a tradition to make with my mother, make them a tradition in your house!

Ingredients For russian tea cakes

  • 2 stick
    butter, softened
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans *optional*
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make russian tea cakes

    Preheat oven to 400.
  • 2
    Using pastry blender, mix butter, salt, and ½ cup powdered sugar until smooth. Mix in vanilla.

    Slowly beat in flour and nuts, if using.

    Chill dough for 30 minutes, then form into ¾- to 1-inch balls. Arrange close together on baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until set, but not brown. *NOTE* Cookies can be placed very close together, as they will not grow.

    Roll hot teacakes in powdered sugar, then let cool. Once cool, roll teacakes again in powdered sugar.
