Great easy to make pound cake that goes well with ice cream and/or fruit on it or toasted lightly with butter and jam.

Ingredients For rose's basic butter pound cake

  • 1 c
    (2 sticks) unsalted butter softened
  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 6
    extra large eggs
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract(you can also use lemon or almond if you like in stead

How To Make rose's basic butter pound cake

    DO NOT PRE-HEAT THE OVEN. Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.

    In electric mixer (paddle attachment) cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, powder and salt. Alternately add flour mixture and heavy cream to butter mixture beginning and ending with flour. Add flavoring. Mix. Pour batter into prepared pan. Put into COLD OVEN and then set temperature to 325. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes without opening the oven door. Bake for an additional 15 minutes if necessary. Remove from oven and let stand in pan at least 20 minutes. Enjoy.
