roman apple cake
I've been making this cake for over 40 years and it is so easy and moist. It's not a "pretty" cake but it is oh so good. A great cake for gatherings, very portable, and not overly sweet and it is always a big hit. I never have any left to bring home.

Ingredients For roman apple cake

1 csugar

1 1/2 cflour

1/4 tspsalt

1/2 tspbaking powder

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 cbutter or margarine, softened

1/2 cmilk

1egg

2 capples, peeled and finely chopped
- TOPPING:

1/2 cbrown sugar
-
2 Tbspbutter or margarine, softened

2 tspflour
-
2 tspcinnamon

1/2 cnuts, finely chopped
How To Make roman apple cake

1Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl.

2Blend in sugar, butter/margarine, milk, egg, and apple. Mix on medium speed.

3Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

4Cream together all the topping ingredients. Sprinkle over cake batter.

5Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until done.
