Well its too cool to sit on porch today so spent the day going threw Moms recipes. This was one of my favorites.

Ingredients For raw apple cake (with cream cheese frosting)

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    shortning
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • dash
    freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 c
    apples (diced)
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • CREAM CEESE FROSTING
  • 3 oz
    cream cheese
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    milk (add more if needed)

How To Make raw apple cake (with cream cheese frosting)

    Cream Sugars and shortening, add eggs.

    Sift the dry ingredients add alternately to cream mixture with milk. Add apples and nuts.

    Spray 9x13 pan, pour batter into pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on rack.

    Mix cream cheese and butter together, add powdered sugar, milk,and vanilla beat till smooth frost cake.
