A snack cake. Can be made with unsweetened applesauce instead of pumpkin. I don’t frost it (just a dollop of whipped cream) but you can use your favorite frosting if desired, or a glaze.

1 1/8 call purpose flour

1/2 csugar, granulated

1/2 cbrown sugar, lightly packed

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspcinnamon, ground

1/4 tspcloves, ground

1/4 tspallspice, ground

1/4 tspnutmeg, ground

1/4 cvegetable oil

1/4 cwater

1 cpumpkin puree (not pie filling)

1egg

1/2 csemi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
How To Make pumpkin spice cake

1Prreheat oven to 350F. Coat a 9-inch cake pan or 8-inch square pan (glass is best) with nonstick cooking spray.

2In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and whisk until blended.

3Add all wet ingredients and whisk until blended. Stir in chocolate chips, if using.

4Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 35-40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in center comes out clean.

5Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Frost if desired.

6Slice and serve.
