I received this recipe from a church friend. She had made this delicious cake for a shower and I loved it. I had to have the recipe and she graciously shared it with me. This is a tried and true recipe that has stood the test of time. It is great for any occasion. If I don't make one of these cakes every so often, my family will ask me to make one! The recipe can be doubled and the extra cake can be frozen to be used later. This cake is not too sweet so fresh, summer fruit is a perfect accompaniment, especially strawberries!

Ingredients For pound cake

  • 2 stick
    butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make pound cake

    Grease and flour a bundt pan.

    In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together.

    Add the eggs and mix well.

    In small bowl, mix the flour and baking powder together, add it to the butter, sugar, egg mixture, mixing well.

    Stir in the milk.

    Stir in salt.

    Stir in the vanilla.

    Pour into greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 1 hour at 325.

    Note: you can change the flavor of this cake: You can make it lemon or orange by adding either lemon or orange zest and using lemon or orange juice in place of the vanilla.
