I love coconut, packs of orange slices, dates, and pecans. Have to admit the first time I ate this cake was the first time I had cooked with orange slices.

Ingredients For orange slice cake

  • 1 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 pkg
    chopped dates
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 2 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    orange slices, chopped
  • 1 can
    or 1/2 bag of coconut
  • GLAZE
  • 2 c
    10x confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 c
    orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    orange rind

How To Make orange slice cake

    Combine butter, sugar, buttermilk, eggs, soda in large mixing bowl. Add flour slowly blending in well.

    Add dates, pecans, orange slices, and coconut.

    Bake 2 hours in tube pan at 250. When you take it out of the oven, while hot pour glaze over it.

    Glaze: in saucepan combine orange juice, rind, and confectioner's sugar and bring to boil. Pouring it on hot cake. Serve hot or cold. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
