Ingredients For orange cake with orange icing

  • ORANGE CAKE:
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/4 c
    fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar (superfine, if possible)
  • 1 1/2 c
    self-rising flour, sifted
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh orange zest
  • ORANGE ICING:
  • 1/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    fresh orange zest

How To Make orange cake with orange icing

    Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Butter an 8x5-inch loaf pan or an 8-inch tube pan; set aside.

    Combine all cake ingredients and beat thoroughly for 3 minutes with electric mixer. Pour batter into prepared cake pan.

    Bake in center of oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool on wire rack. When cooled, invert onto serving platter.

    To make the icing: Combine all the icing ingredients and mix thoroughly. Use icing to frost the cooled orange cake.
