I sent for this cookbook many years ago.It was on the radio on a cook show. I have made this a few times.This is one of my husbands favorites.

Ingredients For old fashioned spice squares

1 cwater
-
1 cseedless raisins
-
1/2 csalad oil
-
1 csugar
-
1egg,lightly beaten

1 3/4 csifted flour
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
1 tspbaking soda
-
1 tspcinnamon
-
1 tspnutmeg
-
1 tspground alspice
-
1/2 tspground cloves
-
1/2 cchopped nuts
How To Make old fashioned spice squares

1Combine water and raisins.Bring to boil,remove from heat and stir in salad oil. Cool to lukewarm.

2Add sugar and egg.

3Sift dry ingredients together and beat into raisin mixture.Add nuts.

4Pour into greased 13x9 pan and bake in 375 oven for 25 minutes.

5When cool,cut into squares.Frost with butter frosting.
