When Newingham's Bakery closed it's doors, I begged the owner for their famous caramel frosting recipe. To my surprise, he gave it to me. I use this on so many things including fresh apple cake, zucchini cupcakes and carrot cake. Lick the bowl clean good. =) My Photo

Ingredients For newingham's bakery caramel frosting

  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 1/2-2 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make newingham's bakery caramel frosting

  • 1
    Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in deep saucepan without Teflon as you will be using beaters. Bring to a low boil. Cook and stir 2 minutes.

    Remove from heat and add vanilla. Cool to lukewarm.

    Beat in powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.

    Makes enough for 1 1/2-2 dozen cupcakes or one 9x13 cake.
