My grandmother was a wonderful cook and baker. She worked full time and still had a full meal on the table every night. On Saturdays she baked kuchen for the week. She loved to cook with tomato soup and I have many of her recipes with this favorite ingredient of hers.

Ingredients For my grandma's tomato soup cake

1tomato soup

3/4 cshortening

1 1/2 csugar

3/4 cwater

1 tspbaking soda

3 call purpose flour

3/4 tspkosher salt

3 tspbaking powder

1 1/2 tspcinnamon

1 tspground cloves
-
1 1/2 tspfreshly grated nutmeg

1 1/2 craisins
-
1 1/2 cchopped nuts
How To Make my grandma's tomato soup cake

1Blend shortening and sugar. Combine tomato soup, water and baking soda.

2Add to first mixture the dry ingredients. Stir in raisins and nuts.

3Pour cake batter into a greased 9"x13" cake pan. Bake at 350-degrees for 45 minutes.

4Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
