This is a yelllow fruit cake. When sliced it looks like stained glass. Wonderful flavor and everyone's favorite.

Ingredients For my grandma's fruit cake

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 lb
    butter (no substitute)
  • 7
    egg yolks, well beaten
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 oz
    lemon extract
  • 1 oz
    vanilla extract
  • 1 lb
    red cherries, candied (cut in half)
  • 1 lb
    green cherries, candied (cut in half)
  • 1 lb
    pineapple candied (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 lb
    pecans, in pieces
  • 7
    egg whites,beaten till stiff

How To Make my grandma's fruit cake

    Cream butter and sugar then add egg yolks and most of flour and extract.

    Dredge fruit and nuts with 1 cup flour.

    Pour butter mixture over fruit and mix well.

    Fold (with hands) egg whites into batter.
  • 5
    Bake 275 degrees 1 1/2 to 2 hours in 10 inch greased and floured pan or loaves. Line bottom of pans with wax paper.
