This recipe came from a friend of my uncle's who bragged about it on Facebook last night. We all took too much bragging and wanted the recipe. Hope yawl enjoy it.

Ingredients For mrs. branning's chocolate pound cake

  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 3 c
    flour (cake flour)
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1/2 lb
    butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 c
    crisco
  • 1 c
    sweet milk
  • 5 lg
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make mrs. branning's chocolate pound cake

    Sift dry ingredients, adding a little at a time to the creamed butter and Crisco, along with a little milk, and one egg at a time, until well blended.

    Grease and flour cake pan. Bake at 275-300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR UNTIL BAKING TIME IS UP!
