This recipe was personally prepared by Deb Berman for the July 2015 meeting of the Curious Cuisiners meeting. It is still good in the refrigerator for a couple of days. If longer, you can freeze. Let thaw in the refrigerator.

Ingredients For mounds cake

  • 1 pkg
    devils food cake mix
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 40 lg
    marshmallows(10 oz pkg)
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 pkg
    (14 oz) coconut
  • ICING
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 6 oz
    pkg chocolate chips

How To Make mounds cake

  • 1
    Prepare cake mix as directed on package and bake.

    While the cake is in the oven, mix together in saucepan and cook on low (make sure you continuously stir, it burns easily) the sugar, marshmallows, and milk, bring to a boil.

    Remove from the heat and add the coconut. Pour this mixture over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven. Cool.

    Icing: In a saucepan on medium heat mix the milk, sugar. and butter, bring this to a boil.

    Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate chips. Top cake with this mixture. Refrigerate overnight.
