My Grandmother was well known in South Georgia for her delicious cakes. This was one of her pound cake recipes. Now that Granny is no longer with us, her daughters and granddaughters are continuing her tradition.

Ingredients For mother's miracle pound cake

1/2 cshortening, (crisco is preferred brand)

2 stickunsalted butter

3 cgranulated sugar

4eggs
-
1 cbuttermilk
-
3 ccake flour (swan's down is preferred)

1 tsplemon flavoring

1 tspvanilla flavoring
How To Make mother's miracle pound cake

1Cream margarine and Crisco together. Add sugar & cream together. Add eggs one at a time, then add milk, flour and flavoring.

2Pour into greased and floured tube pan.

3Set oven to 325 degrees. Do NOT preheat oven. Bake approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes.

4Allow to cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. This is a "crusty" yet very moist cake. Enjoy!
