I used to make this with Pillsbury rolls, then used my bread machine to make the dough. SO much better!

Ingredients For monkey bread-bread machine

  • DOUGH
  • 1 c
    water (warm, not hot)
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    yeast (i haven't noticed a difference between active dry and rapid rise)
  • FOR COATING
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • FOR GLAZE
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar (i use light brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make monkey bread-bread machine

    Preheat oven to 350. Place 2 tbsp butter, water, sugar, salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, flour and yeast into bread machine. Set to dough cycle. If it's humid, and the dough seems like it's coming out sticky, add a little flour while still early in the dough process.

    When dough is finished, combine 1/2 c white sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Roll dough into small balls, roll into sugar/cinnamon mix and put into greased bundt pan. When done, cover with towel and let rise 1/2 hour.

    After dough rises for about a half hour, put 1/4 c. butter in small pan and melt. Add brown sugar and vanilla, bring just to boil. Pour over bread pieces. Bake at 350 30-35 minutes.
