This is my mom's White Mountain Icing which she usually put on a devil's food cake. From the 1950s.

Ingredients For mom's white mountain icing

1/2 cgranulated sugar

1/4 ccorn syrup, light

1/2 tsppure vanilla extract

2 lgegg whites

2 Tbspwater
How To Make mom's white mountain icing

1Whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a small saucepan.

2Stirring occasionally, bring the mixture to 242 degrees F over medium heat.

3Meanwhile, beat the egg whites into stiff peaks.

4Once the hot mixture has reached 242 degrees F, pour it in a very thin, but steady, stream into the egg whites with the mixer running. Beat until the mixture is thick, fluffy and glossy. Beat in the vanilla.
