  • 1ST LAYER:
  • 1 box
    cake mix, any flavor
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2ND LAYER:
  • 3 - 8 oz. pkg
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 3 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • TOPPING:
  • nuts, chopped, your choice, if desired
  • confectioners' sugar, if desired

How To Make *** mom's gooey butter cake ***

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Mix all 1st layer ingredients together & spread into 13 x 9" pan.

    Beat all 2nd layer ingredients together & pour over cake mixture. Add nuts, if using. Bake 35 - 40 minutes. Cool 20 minutes.

    Can sift confectioners' sugar, if desired.
