Please note this is a CAKE ... NOT a bread, though it works great in loaves, too ... I actually think it's tastier than most banana breads, and lighter!

Ingredients For mom's banana cake

1/2 cshortening

1 1/2 csugar

2 lgeggs

2 cflour

1/2 tspbaking powder

3/4 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1 cmashed bananas

1/4 cbuttermilk

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make mom's banana cake

1Cream shortening and sugar.

2Add eggs.

3Sift dry ingredients together and add a little at a time. Mix well.

4Add bananas, buttermilk and vanilla

5Bake in cake pans or loaf pans at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
