For this new layer cake recipe, I asked myself, "what if a Milky Way bar and s'mores were combined?" And I created something good.

Ingredients For milky way s'mores cake

  • CAKE
  • 2 1/4 c
    graham cracker crumbs, divided
  • 4 Tbsp
    cane sugar
  • 1 box
    German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/4 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 c
    chocolate milk mixed with malted milk powder
  • 6
    fun size Milky Way bars, sliced
  • 1 c
    miniature marshmallows
  • 6 Tbsp
    caramel ice cream topping, divided
  • 2
    king size Milky Way bars, sliced
  • FILLING
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 1 can
    sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 Tbsp
    marshmallow creme
  • FROSTING
  • 1 tube
    frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 2
    packets hot cocoa mix with marshmallows
  • 1 c
    chocolate syrup

How To Make milky way s'mores cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Coat two 9' round cake pans with cooking spray. Add 2 cups graham cracker crumbs and cane sugar on both cake pans; mix well until coated.

    In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, eggs and chocolate milk/mated milk powder. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes or until blended. Add sliced Milky Way bars and miniature marshmallows.

    Beat again on low speed for 30 seconds.Pour over the prepared cake pans. Drizzle with 4 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping on both cake batter in the cake pans.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted the center comes out out clean. Cool completely for 10 minutes.

    For the filling; whisk heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk and marshmallow creme in a small bowl for 3 minutes until blended. Set aside.

    For the frosting; in a medium bowl, combine whipped topping, cream cheese, hot cocoa mix and chocolate syrup, whisk together for 5 minutes until smooth.

    Place a first layer cake on a serving plate. Spread the filling onto the cake. Add sliced Milky Way bars and drizzle with 2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping.

    Place a second layer cake on top. Spread the frosting on sides and top of the cake.

    Drizzle with remaining caramel ice cream topping and sprinkle with remaining graham cracker crumbs all over the cake.
