A good friend of mine made this cake especially for me knowing that being Quebecoise is loving the essence of maple syrup. She knew I love maple syrup. I was very astounded and delighted with the results.

Ingredients For melinda maple nut cake

1 boxyellow cake mix

1/2 cwater

3 mdeggs

1 cmaple imitation syrup

1 tspmaple extract

1 cchopped walnuts
- MAPLE CREAM CHEES GLAZE

11/2 cpowdered sugar

3 Tbspbutter, softened

11/2 ozcream cheese
-
1/4 cmaple flavored syrup

1 ozjack daniels bourbon
How To Make melinda maple nut cake

1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a a 12 cups pan with shortening and flour it slightly.

2In a large bowl beat all cake ingredients with an electric mixer . Beat for about 3 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake about 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool about 15 minutes and remove form the pan and cool it about 2 hours.,

3In a large bowl beat powdered sugar, butter, cream cheese and syrup with an electric mixer. Beat in enough of the remaining syrup to make a smooth soft frosting that flows down the sides of the cake. Glaze the cake. Melinda would always comment to me "Francine you always could use more Bourbon than syrup...(ha ha) Take a swig!

4Note that Melinda does not use real maple syrup because the flavor of the imitation maple syrup is more intense.
