This is the recipe I used many times when my children were little. Moist, flavorful, and it held together for making cut-up cakes ( let's see, there was Snoopy, A Jupiter-C missile, A big daisy, a witch, and a few others. ....memories!

Ingredients For mayonnaise cake (from the 1970's)

3 call purpose flour

1 1/2 csugar
-
1/3 ccocoa powder, (the brown container with the h)

2 1/4 tspbaking powder

1 1/2 tspbaking soda

1 1/2 cmayonnaise, good quality not generic

1 1/2 cwater or coffee

1 1/2 tspvanilla
How To Make mayonnaise cake (from the 1970's)

1Preheat oven to 350f.

2Mix dry ingredients by sifting or stirring well.

3Blend in mayonnaise.

4Gradually, beat in water (or coffee) and vanilla.

5Beat until smooth.

6Grease and flour the pans. Add a waxed paper liner to the bottom.

7Bake in the 350 f. oven for 30 minutes.
