Growing up o the West coast I had never even heard of this cake let alone taste it. When I went home with my husband for the first time to Columbus, Georgia I had it at his mom's house. Oh my word! It is my favorite for sure.

1 1/2 csugar

2 Tbspcocoa powder

1 tspbaking soda

1 bottlered food coloring

How To Make mary's red velvet cake

1Cream butter and sugar together. Add buttermilk and flour to sugar mixture alternately beginning and ending with buttermilk. Add everything else. Pour into a 13x9 pan or 3 round cake pans. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes. Let cake cool completely before frosting.

2Frosting: 1 Box of powdered sugar. 10 oz., 8 oz. cream cheese, 1 stick of butter, 1 t. vanilla. Chopped pecans for the top.
