This cake was an inexpensive way for us to have a delicious dessert when I was little. My mother made it frequently. It was always very moist and delicious.

Ingredients For margaret's fruit cocktail cake

  • 1 cup Flou c
    self rising flour
  • 1 cup Suga c
    white sugar
  • 1 tsp Soda tsp
    baking soda
  • Salt pinch
    table salt
  • 1 egg
    fresh egg
  • Fruit
    fruit cocktail, canned 303
  • 1 tsp tube
    pure vanilla extract

How To Make margaret's fruit cocktail cake

  • 1
    Mix flour sugar, soda, salt and egg in mixing bowl
  • 2
    Add one cup drained fruit cocktail
  • 3
    Pour into ungreased 9in square pan
  • 4
    Mix brown sugar and nuts together and sprinkle over top.

    Put into a 350 degree oven and bake for 45 minutes.

    Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
