My mom always made this in the fall. What a way to come home from school to the wonderful aroma.

Ingredients For lee's applesauce cake

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 can
    14-1/2 ounce can of applesauce
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • TOPPING
  • 1 can
    14-1/2ounce unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon

How To Make lee's applesauce cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Cream together sugar and Cisco. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.

    Sift dry ingredients together.
  • 4
    Add alternately with applesauce to sugar mixture.
  • 5
    Pour into bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees until done (not sure how long, this was my Mom's recipe).

    For Topping: mix ingredients. Take a wooden spoon and poke holes in warm cake. Spread topping over warm cake.
