My daughter wanted a chocolate cake for her 14th Birthday. I was going to buy a mix, but then my Mom told me about this recipe from Hershey she found. It makes a very rich and moist chocolate cake and the frosting comes out just perfect!

1 3/4 call-purpose flour

3/4 ccocoa

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1 cboiling water

4 cchocolate frosting
- FOR THE FROSTING

1 stickbutter
-
2/3 ccocoa
-
3 cpowdered sugar

1/3 cmilk

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make homemade chocolate cake

1Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.

2Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.

3Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with chocolate frosting.

4FOR THE FROSTING

5Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

6For a 13x9x2-inch baking pan, bake 34-40 min. minutes.

7For a 3 layer cake using 8-inch round pans, bake 30 to 35

8For cup cakes, bake 22 to 25 minutes.
