hershey's syrup brownies
No Image
My Aunt O used to make what she called a Texas sheet cake for the holidays. This cake comes the closest to duplicating her recipe. My kids all love this cake. I have to admit, it's a favorite of mine as well. Chocolatey goodness and very rich! I do not use the nuts because of allergies but am told that walnuts go well with it.

2Cream the melted butter with the sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
-
3Add the vanilla.
-
4Add the flour and mix well.
-
5Add the Hershey's syrup. Mix well. Add nuts if desired.
-
6Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the brownies are done by toothpick test.
-
7Meanwhile, prepare the icing as follows:
-
8Bring the melted butter, cocoa, and 1 Tbsp milk to a boil in the microwave.
-
9In a large bowl, add the confectioners' sugar. Then add the cocoa mixture and beat well.
-
10Add the vanilla and the rest of the milk. Add more milk if needed to bring icing to the proper spreading consistency.
-
11Let the brownies cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then spread the icing over the brownies. Sprinkle with more nuts, if desired. Allow to cool completely before cutting. Cover and refrigerate after cutting.
