guinness chocolate cake
(21 ratings)
I've used a Bundt pan and springform pan for this cake. Dusted it with confectioners' sugar for a pretty presentation.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Moist and delicious, this Guinness chocolate cake is filled with chocolate flavor. The beer enhances the chocolate flavor, and sour cream helps add moisture. The homemade chocolate cake is delicious simply dusted with powdered sugar. You could also whip up a chocolate frosting or powdered sugar glaze for a touch of richness.

How To Make guinness chocolate cake
Test Kitchen Tips
We buttered the pan and dusted it with extra cocoa powder.
-
1Preheat the oven to 350F. Butter and line a 9-inch springform pan.
-
2Pour the Guinness into a large wide saucepan. Add the butter – in spoons or slices – and heat until the butter is melted.
-
3Remove from heat and whisk in the cocoa and sugar.
-
4Beat the sour cream with the eggs and vanilla. Then pour into the saucepan. Make sure you beat constantly so the egg does not cook.
-
5Whisk in the flour and baking soda.
-
6Pour the cake batter into the greased and prepared pan.
-
7Bake for 45 minutes to an hour.
-
8Leave to cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack.
