In another life, I re-worked recipes for a health and fitness site. There are times when you just need something sweet. This recipe can help you do that without completely falling off the fitness bandwagon.

Is it a health food? Of course not. But, it's better than a total chocolate cake faceplant meltdown. lol Healthy eating is simply making good choices. This cake has 198 calories per slice vs. a traditional banana cake at a whopping 400 calories.

You don't have to be perfect every day. You just have to be better than you were and fully prepared with easy, healthier recipes.

  • 1/3 c. white sugar
  • 1 tsp. each baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon
  • WET INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 c. sour cream or plain yogurt (non-fat not recommended)

How To Make guilt-free banana cake

  • 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9x9 pan and set aside. (I use a metal pan.)
  • 2
Add all dry ingredients to a large bowl and whisk thoroughly.
  • 3
In another bowl, whisk egg. Add remainder of wet ingredients and whisk thoroughly.
  • 4
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mixing just until no dry particles remain. Pour into prepared 9x9 pan and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness and cake springs back when touched. (You may want to tent the pan loosely with foil if browning too quickly.)
  • 5
Cool completely before slicing. Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar, a dollop of fat free whipped topping and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon.
