In the olden days, these were served with afternoon tea. This excellent tea cake recipe makes a small batch of cookies and tastes like they came from a bakery.

1 1/2 call-purpose flour

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspsalt

1/2 cgranulated sugar

1/4 cbutter

1/2 tspvanilla extract
How To Make granny's old-fashion tea cakes

1Cream butter; add sugar and a well-beaten egg. Add salt and vanilla extract.

2Sift flour and baking powder.

3Alternate adding the flour mixture.

4Then the milk.

5Continue until everything is mixed.

6Roll 1/8 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter.

7Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
