granny's never fail frosting
This icing is perfect for the "Granny's Famous Coconut Cake" posted by Cindy Allen. My grandmother was famous for all of her wonderful cakes. This is just one of the many that she would make for the family gatherings and for the holidays.

Ingredients For granny's never fail frosting

1 csugar

1/2 tspcream of tartar

3 Tbspwater

1/4 tspsalt

2egg whites, unbeaten

1 tspvanilla extract

1 pkgfrozen coconut
How To Make granny's never fail frosting

1Combine all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler. Place on stove burner on med heat. Use mixer to stir.

2Beat briskly for 3 minutes or until it is fluffy and holds it’s shape. (Sometimes 5-7 minutes)

3Remove from stove top and add vanilla.

4Ice cake and sprinkle with coconut. Enough icing for 2 (9inch) layers.
