This recipe is from my husband's grandmother Mabel. Everytime I make it I'm asked for the recipe.

Ingredients For grandma mabel's oatmeal cake
- COMBINE & LET STAND FOR 20 MINUTES

1 1/2 cquick cooking oats

2 1/4 cboiling water
- CREAM:

1 1/2 stickbutter, softened

1 1/2 cwhite sugar
- ADD:
-
1 1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

3eggs, beaten
- ADD OATS AND THE FOLLOWING SIFTED TOGETHER:

2 cflour
-
1 1/2 tspbaking soda
-
1 1/2 tspcinnamon
-
3/8 tspsalt
- ADD:

1 1/2 tspvanilla extract
- ICING:
-
1 1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1 1/2 ccoconut, shredded
-
1/2 cheavy cream
-
6 tspbutter, melted
How To Make grandma mabel's oatmeal cake

1Bake 50 minutes at 350 degrees in well greased and floured 9 x 11 or 9 x 13 pan.

2After cake cools add icing (see above) and broil for a few minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
