2 1/2 cflour

1 3/4 csugar

2 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

1 cbutter, melted

1 lgegg, at room temperature

1 1/2 tspvanilla
- TOPPING
-
3 Tbsp+ 1 tsp corn syrup

2 1/2 tspvanilla

12 Tbspbutter, softened
-
1 1/2 csugar
-
1 lgegg
-
1 c+ 3 tbs flour
-
confectioners' sugar
How To Make gooey butter cake

1Grease 13"x9" baking dish.

2In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

3In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg and vanilla.

4Add wet ingredients to flour mixture to combine.

5Press onto bottom of baking dish.

6Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

7Topping: In a small bowl mix corn syrup with 2 tablespoons water and vanilla.

8Using mixer cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

9Beat in egg.
-
10Alternately add flour and corn syrup.

11Spoon topping over cake base. Using spatula spread inn even layer.

12Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.

13Cool in pan before sprinkling with confectioners' sugar.
