I babysat for the Hood's while in highschool. While this is called a cake, it's more of a coffee cake, can be eaten anytime of day....it's great warm or cold, with or without ice cream or whipped cream. It's a great fall cake. I will often make this to take into a family that has suffered a loss. You can cut the recipe in 1/2 to make an 8x8 pan. ALWAYS LABEL FOODS MADE WITH NUTS.

Ingredients For glenda hood's german apple cake

2 csugar

1/2 cbutter

2eggs
-
3 craw, peeled, chopped apples

1/2 tspsalt

2 cflour
-
1 tspcinnamon

1 tspbaking soda

3/4 cchopped walnuts

1 tspvanilla extract (1/2 tsp for 8x8 pan)
- TOPPING

1/4 cbrown sugar, lightly packed

1/4 csugar

1/2 cchopped walnuts (i use more)

1 dashcinnamon

1Preheat oven to 350*; Prepare 9x13 baking dish (spray with Pam or Oven Magic)

2Cream sugar vanilla & butter. Add eggs and apples

3In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients:flour, cinnamon, salt and soda. Add to vanilla, butter, egg and vanilla mixture. Put into prepared baking dish

4In a separate small bowl combing topping ingredients of sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. Stir to combine and sprinkle evenly over the top of cake batter. Bake
