This recipe comes from a 1968 recipe book titled,"Favorite Recipes From Church of GOD Ladies". Each of the recipes has the ladies' name and home town and I will include this with the recipe and if you know or are related to this person, I would really like to know. The recipes I post from this cookbook are ones I have tried and really like or are unusual due to ingredients or possibly due to the number of recipes with the same name but are different in some way. I hope you enjoy. I know some the recipes are really lacking in some or all areas, but I am posting them as they are in the cookbook

Ingredients For glazed pumpkin cake

  • CAKE:
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    allspice
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 4
    eggs, beaten
  • 1 c
    nuts
  • 1 c
    raisins or dates
  • 1 tsp
    lemon flavoring
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla flavoring
  • 2 c
    cooked pumpkin or 1 no. 2 can pumpkin
  • 1/2 c
    coconut
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla flavoring

How To Make glazed pumpkin cake

  • 1
    CAKE: Combine sugar and oil.
  • 2
    Sift spices, baking powder, salt, baking soda and **2 c. of flour together.

    Alternate, adding flour mixture and eggs to sugar mixture.

    Mix nuts and raisins with remaining **1 c. flour.

    Add nut mixture and remaining ingredients to sugar mixture; blend well.

    Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

    Cool for 20 minutes.

    GLAZE: Combine all ingredients.

    Bring to a boil; cook to sof ball stage.
