Ingredients For gingerbread

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/12 c
    white sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    ginger
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1
    egg
  • 3 Tbsp
    light molasses
  • 2 Tbsp
    boiling water
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda

How To Make gingerbread

  • 1
    Mix flour, sugar, butter, ginger, cinnamon, and salt with pastry blender or fork so dough is crumbly. Set aside 1/4 cup for topping.

    Add buttermilk,egg, and molasses; mix baking soda with boiling water before adding to batter. Pour into sheet cake pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 minutes. Sprinkle reserved topping and bake for additional 10-15 minutes.
