1 1/2 cflour

1/2 tspsalt

3/4 tspcinnamon

3/4 tspginger

1/2 tspallspice

1/2 cshortening

1/2 cboiling water

1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 cdark molasses

1egg, slightly beaten
How To Make ginger bread

1Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and allspice in mixing bowl; set aside . Combine shortening and boiling water in large bowl; blend in brown sugar, molasses and egg. Add dry ingredients gradually ; mix till thoroughly combined. Pour batter into greased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350* for 30 to 40 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream.
